NUMERICAL SIMULATION AND EXPERIMENTAL VALIDATION OF THE INFLATION TEST OF LATEX BALLOONS
Keywords:
INFLATION TEST OF LATEX BALLOONS, NUMERICAL SIMULATION, EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION/VALIDATION.Abstract
AN EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERICAL STUDY OF LATEX BALLOONS IS MADE WITH THE PURPOSE OF CHARACTERIZING THE MATERIAL'S BEHAVIOR VIA TENSILE TESTS AND TO ASSESS THE NUMERICAL RESPONSES OF A FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF THE INFLATION TEST. THE NUMERICAL FORMULATION IS BASED ON LARGE STRAIN DEFORMATION OF HYPERELASTIC MATERIALS. THE MECHANICAL PARAMETERS ARE OBTAINED BY ADJUSTING THE TENSILE TEST DATA USING DIFFERENT MATERIAL MODELS. THE NUMERICAL PRESSURE VS. STRETCH CURVES ARE VALIDATED SUCCESSFULLY BY COMPARING THEM WITH THOSE OBTAINED EXPERIMENTALLY. ONCE THE BALLOON MODEL IS VALIDATED, A NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF AN EYEBALL IS PERFORMED USING DATA FROM LITERATURE. IN ALL THESE PROBLEMS, THE YEOH MODEL WAS THE ONE THAT BEST DESCRIBED THE MATERIAL'S BEHAVIOR.Downloads
