Keywords:
MODERATELY THICK PLATES, ELASTICITY, LINEAR CALCULATION.Abstract
TAKING THE BOLLE-REISNER THEORY AS A STARTING POINT, WE HAVE DERIVED A SYSTEM OF DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS OF A GENERAL NATURE WHICH ARE APPLICABLE TO THE CALCULATION OF THE STRESSES IN ISOTROPIC PLATES WITH INCLUSION OF FIRST ORDER SHEAR EFFECT, INDEPENDENT OF THEIR THICKNESS (THUS FREEING US FROM THE THIN/MODERATELY THICK PLATE DILEMMA).THIS HAS LED TO VALID SOLUTIONS THAT PERMIT US TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE WHOLE RANGE OF SOLUTIONS AND METHODOLOGIES CURRENTLY BEING DEVELOPED FOR THIN PLATES PROVIDED AN ANALYTICAL SOLUTION IS ATTEMPTED.
